I wasn't around then, so have to rely on Charles Stratton and other books to help identify what is "correct" parts for the P14 and M1917 - some are similar; some are quite different. Specifically, the rear hand guards are different - the M1917 has a longer front metal liner than does the P14; and the rivets for those liners are located differently - P14's are within about .005" of the lower band; M1917 are more like .350" from the band.
Numerich lists both items - has separate part numbers for P14 and M1917. I ordered one for the P14. What I received, per the Stratton book, was for the M1917. Numrich has always been great to work with on issues like this, so I contacted them. From their replies - when they fill an order for either P14 or M1917 hand guards, they will send an M1917 hand guard. They even did a search of their warehouse - they only have M1917 ones stocked - none for P14, at least as described by Stratton.
So, just a "head's up" for those attempting to restore a P14...
