One of the dealers had TRG 22 for 2K. Only two of them and in black. No doubt a bait and switch idea
as they probably sold out very quickly. I think it's a decent deal in the "US" configuration for the SIG. Receiver, flashider and stock seem to be the only US made items. Bolt which locks into the barrel is said to be German. Plus I prefer the way the rail is done on the new ones compared to having to add one on the old system. But we will see.
Sale prices on firearms (or anything for that matter) occur for a few reasons. 1. The item is not selling well and the retailer has too many (AR 15's). 2. The manufacturer is changing models and wants to move out old product. 3. Cash flow problems when some retailers realize they can't make the payments on the goods previously shipped and they need to move product faster than normal. 4. The retailer is just a really nice guy and wants to discount a good selling item to establish themselves a the low ball price guy (thuis last one has some longevity limitations for the retailer). 5. Limited time/special offer to drive customers in the store (these are known as loss leaders) however these are seldom done on high ticket items and in the case of some box stores not many units are on sale say like a Ruger 10/22 for $199 when only 8 guns are available. Whenever I see anything on sale (even outside our industry) I always ask myself whats really going on here and then act accordingly. Phil.
