I've turned my Mauser 71/84 into a "71" with some welding.
It was already sporterized and bubba'd by previous owners, so don't worry, I wasn't destroying history.
Question: Can these guns be converted to calibers other than .43 Mauser? Sure, it's allegedly easy to reload, but I'd rather spend money on guns and ammo than a press and brass cases ( at $3 a pop).
I know I can get dummy shells to let me fire .22 LR rds, but that seems like it'd be pretty inaccurate, and a general waste of time. Can I get dummy shells to fire other more effective rounds, or even small shotshells?
I don't suppose there are any common calibers, such as 45-70, these things can be converted to? Or, what about .410, as they did to all those poor old Lee Enfields down in Australia?
Of course, I realize that once it was converted, I might as well have probably spent the money on reloading access. anyway......
sorry for the Noobish questions.
