Bearing cost in mind, what rifle would proove the best choice to rechamber into the popular milsurp round?

I'm looking for something that will throw milsurp a lot more accurately than the semi-auto options currently out there.

I've heard of Lee Enfields being rechambered. Can anyone speak with experiance on the process and it's elements?

If its a cheaper option to just just by a CZ bolt in this cal then I'll definately just go that route.

Thanks

You can get a chamber spacer/adapter that goes from .308 to 7.62x39. The .308 bore is a bit tighter then an sks bore but it does work.
If your looking for accuracy you'll also likely want to reload for it. Negating the need for this 7.62x39 "tack driver" everyone thinks will become when you chamber a surplus round into a bolt action, just reload for something else. Or buy something that shoots cheaper modern ammo (.223 would be my choice)
Just cause its a bolt action, doesn't mean it's more accurate.

I've done several different bolt actions into 7.62x39. Accuracy really depends on the barrel used and good bullets.
They are mostly DIY gunsmith projects. My wife has CZ 527 in it and loves it. It shoots as good as any of my conversions with standard hunting barrels.
A lot more accurate than your standard SKS.
My most accurate combos have been with Rem 700/788's and match barrels. My own personal hunting rifle is a Rem 788 22-250 action with Shilen barrel installed converted to 7.62x39.

That sounds like a nice rifle. I'll have to look into these chamber adapters.

I've got a nice sporter enfield which I would use a LOT more if it were chambered in x39. With the adapter, is it necessary to change the bolt?

Edit:
After some research it looks like a .308 bolt might be a better call. Apparently the M43 cartridge has a bullet diameter of .310 meaning a .308 bore would be a more appropriate choice than the tighter fitting .303 lee enfield. These adapters retail for only $25 as well. I think I may have to order one to try out on my savage in .308.

ASteyr 95 successfully converted a #1MKIII* Lee Enfield to 7.62X39, which I understand he sold on the ee. It was a single shot though. I guess the magazine issue is another nut to crack, once you have the barrel rechambered, extractor modified, etc.

Edit: I would bet that ASteyr 95 has a nice lathe at his disposal.
