Hello folks,, I have a few thousand 175gr sierra hpbt, want to do some loads using imr 4064 for a 30.30 single shot break barrel target shooting only but can't find any data what so ever.. need all pertinent data please.
Thank you
I've used 30gr of Win748 with a 180gr RN with no issues but as for IMR 4064 the only data is for a 170gr which is close and doable with a couple grains less powder. Here's the LEE MANUAL 2nd EDITION 170gr data MIN 29.8gr/1991fps MAX31.7gr/2090fps
The MIN load should be fine for the 175gr seeing it's a single shot but I'd try a test batch at 29gr first your OAL will be up to you .....just shy of touching the lands. Proceed with due diligence.USE AT OWN RISK
Use the 170 data. I wouldn’t use the max load but probably 2grs less than max. I have done similar many times. When substituting a heavier bullet for a lighter one I stay away from the max load. Your the one controlling safety watch for any pressure signs. The difference in weight is only 5 grs but the shape and bearing surface will make more of a pressure difference. If it was a Ruger single shot I wouldn’t even worry due to their strength.
