Reclaim plumber tin

Hi all!!
as a plumber, i have acces to the tin drop we made when we solder copper pipe.
I collect for myself, till 2015 and i gotta say that i got way much more than i will use!

Does other caster use this source of tin? Work great for me.

What would be the value of cleaned tin ingot!?
This tin mainly come from lead free solder, so tin, cupper, silver and antimony for sure, but may have some 50/50 at some point.

I try to see if we ( plumber) can collect it and resell it for caster!?

People who cast bullets often want to add as much as 5% tin to their pure lead or wheelweight, so there is some demand. The important things are knowing what it is (is it pure tin, 50/50 tin/lead, tine with a bit of copper, etc.?) and as always - price.

I never had much luck trying to sell pure tin, wheelweight, etc. here, except for a little bit locally, as CGN buyers tend to want it practically free, and don't want to pay shipping for something this heavy.

When it comes time to sell my wheelweight ingots it will be at the scrap dealer. My son is a plumber and sells lots of copper there and that's where I suggest you consider going.

Our srap dealer here only offert the same price for tin as lead ingot, around 50 cent's/pound.
I had sold babbitt here in the past at 6$/pound and it as been sold pretty fast! meaby i sould try for those reclaim tin too

I have seen EE posts trying to sell pewter for around $14-15/lb. I have always managed to undersell them by offering my pewter for around $10/lb. Never had an issue selling it.

Good thing for you is that your tin is from a known source.

Every gun club has smelters/casters in their membership, you just gotta attract their interest. I suggest you post a Want to Sell notice on their For Sale board. It sells better/faster if they are in ingot form. Priced right, you should be able to sell most if not all. Plus, casters are ingot-thirsty & you can use that to your advantage…..

Our club’ count less than 200 member’s, not that much active. I know 2 others caster that are twice my age. And as they sai, they have all they need until they can’t shoot any more lol
