Any info on the procedure to reclassify a pistol .
I have a Lamma 22lr pistol which is registered prohibited and have obtained a barrel for it that is 4.25". and would like to change it to a restricted firearm.
What is the procedure to do this.

Change the barrel, call the RCMP and ask to have a 12.6 firearm reclassified to Restricted. They will send you some paperwork to fill out and you'll likely have to submit a picture to their techs to prove the new barrel length. Once the the old barrel is removed it becomes a Prohibted Device and needs to be destroyed or surrendered. Your 12.6 does not cover possession of a prohibted length barrel, separate from a firearm. I rebarelled a 12.6 luger and they were sufficiently happy with a picture proving the new length.

Make sure you have other 12.6 firearms registered to you - if you don't changing the barrel will cost you your 12.6 off your license. You must maintain continual possession of short barrel/prohibited handguns to maintain that status.

Thanks for the replies. I will get in touch with the RCMP.
I have quite a few Prohibs so will make sure I keep at least one in that category.
