They let you get a couple hundred more rounds through before the reticle on your dust cover mounted NCStar scope starts dancing all around the tube.

I think the general concensus is they are a solution to a non existent problem.

The PPSH-41 has a rubber buffer, later Soviet firearms don't need it.

Thanks for all the advice I was hoping it would allow me to reacquire target quicker but it sounds like that is not the case.
