Recoil of desert eagle

It's more controllable, or better put - more quickly recoverable. Although, I have never found the .44 Mag to be hard to control in a revolver like the 4" M29 anyway. With the Desert Eagle there is still a big recoil impulse, but it's not like the snap of a revolver, due to it's delayed impulse by the gas operated action. I find it really neat, because it's not at all punishing, but there is still the huge noise and flame. Kind of "surreal, in a way..." :p

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.

Those are sweet guns. I saw one in chrome (super super shiny) and wanted to empty a couple thou. from my piggy bank and buy one.

I’ve shot the DE in both .44 and .50

As for recoil it has quite flip compared to my .44mag revolver with ported barrel. But it doesn’t have the energy transfer to the hand that revolver has, so it won’t brake your wrist.

oh yeah it's pretty fun to shoot :)

What would be the recoil on a .44 desert eagle compared to a .44 revolver
Thanks

WRT perceived recoil and ability to quickly recover for the next shot, the DE .44 is an absolute pussycat compared to a .44 Mag revolver. The DE is a really sweet shooting gun.

I've only fire 9 rounds of .44 magnum in my lifetime, (thanks Dr Nick  )
the 1st 6 were "recuced" cowboy action loads, quite fun. I asked him if he had a couple of full sized loads kicking around, he went to his car and came up with 6 shiny rounds! Well ... two rounds later I found out it was a little much for me and gave the last 4 to "spanky" ... he seemed to have quite a bit of fun with them !

I shot coyotetech's DE. It ain't your father's .22 but like mentioned above..the felt recoil isn't bad. Here I am touching one off.

Striker, you must not like your thumb very much :D
I get slagged about that all the time. It's the grip I use shooting revolver. In all the years I've been shooting pistol I've only had slide bite a couple of times.
Thumb position is in my mental checklist.
I haven't practiced enough with the more conventional thumb on top of thumb grip to get good at it.

the thing with the DE is you want to take the recoil in the elbows not the wrist. That's why you'll see a lot of experienced DE shooters really letting the gun rise up, it saves their wrists. The heavy slide of the DE really puts a lot of torque on the wrists, and that can cause some severe damage if you are not careful, even with the milder 44's. A revolver doesn't have that twist and either comes straight back or rises. so in some ways it's better on you physically than the DE.

The other reason for locking your wrists when shooting the DE is that if you limp wrist it, it'll jam every time. Don't rest the bottom of the mag on your palm either, that will also cause a stoppage. And there's getting occasionally dinged in the forehead from the empty casing, if you let the DE twist.

I really have to take mine back out to the range, I haven't fired it since the last maritimes shoot. :(

I remember that, very satisfying, and I didn't even poop my pants. I have a video of the flame that came out of that, and Bartok5 's look on his face (he was right beside me, and looked to see what the hell was making all that noise and displacement of air) Sound louder under the metal roof I guess

I have several 44s in S&W model 29 and a DE44 the DE is far less hard on the hands, wrists and elbows in my mind. I tend to shoot all my 44s HOT
My De seems to really like Hornadays 265 gr 429 dia bullet, it is made for the 444 Marlin, but feeds REALLY well in the DE. A good does of Blue Dot and it functions flawlessly. The only downside I see to the DEs is that useing powder like W296 and such, filths them up and then they start to malfunction before a revolver will, hence my using Blue Dot
