So I purchased a Limbsaver recoil pad on for my Savage 110 synthetic stock... Uhm, does anyone else find the fit of the "custom fit" ones kind of... Lacking?

are you talking about like around the edges?? IIRC, the limbsavers come in differend sizes, list the application for each one and you need to grind/ sand them flush around the edges if you want a perfect looking fit

In my experience there is no such thing as a good fitting " pre-fit" recoil pad. I get a gunsmith to grind a pad for perfect fit on all my guns.

Not at all! They do make small, medium and large sizes, you should select the smallest one that will work.

This is a pre-fit size (not the grind-to-fit one), and should be the correct size according to their sizing chart.

There is enough variation in synthetic stocks ( wood stocks are worse) that they can only approximate the size of recoil pad needed so variations in fit are the norm. Even on factory guns you can find the fit of the recoil pad to be less than ideal so as mentioned if you want a nice fit get a grind to fit and have it mounted by a gunsmith or if your real hand and have the right tools you can do it yourself.
