Recoil pad restoration

Hello does anyone know of a way to restore, soften an old recoil pad? I have seen on the web stories about using some chemicals to soften them does it work? I have an old PH with a hard recoil pad which I'd like to soften. Thank you.

Hurst #116 Rubber Rejuvenator or Lacquer thinner are the only two I've ever heard of.

Unless there is something really special about this particular PH, just replace the pad with a new one. The new pads are far superior to anything made 10, let alone 30 years ago.

You need to remember, any damage done to the pad, in the condition it's in will not be repaired. Anything you do will only effect the surface.
