Recoil pad

I will ask this both on this forum and the gunsmith forum. Sorry for the repeat. I would just like a balance of opinions. You understand.

I am handy enough and I have a well stocked toolbox, but I don't have access to a belt sander or a vice (no workshop). Should I attempt to install a recoil pad on my shotgun myself, or bring it to a gunsmith? I just don't want to spend unnecessary cash that I don't have.

Do you have a rotary tool? I live in an apartment so I used my Dremel on a grind to fit recoil pad. Worked out great!

Here's a pic pre-final finishing.

my .02 cents

orbital sander works very well, as does a backing disk on a bench grinder. just make sure you tape up the stock before grinding off excess material on pad.
