Recoil pad

If a recoil pad is soaked in hot water, or a heat gun, hair dryer etc., the pad can be arched to conform to the curve of the stock. Repeating the process several times may be needed. Heat-install-tighten, heat-install-tighten. Doing a rough grind makes it easier for the pad to bend. Bending the pad too much when cold can break the base.

A thinner pad will look better than a thick pad. Thicker pads tend not to look good on curved stocks. Pachmayer Old English style pads look good on double guns, the Decelerator in the same style may be available.

Make sure there is plenty of meat on the pad at the heel and toe, bending the pad will change the shape a bit.

Most of the Pachmayer pads use a washer at each hole rather than a plate.

The grips do use steel plates.
