I need a recoil pad for my Husqvarna 9.3x57-there are a number of recoil pads-ranging from the modestly priced ''house brand'' types to the expensive ''name brand'' ones-what is the best value for the money-in terms of function, given recoil is a factor to be considered
I've even used home made rubber recoil pads, cut from industrial rubber, ground to fit,and they look good and work well on my low recoil 65x55,but the 9.3x57 has more recoil with the heavier bullets

Pachmayr Decelorator is good value and has excellent absorption and good looks and they don't "break down" over time. I have installed more of them than anything else. Get a size slightly larger and grind to fit, they have a steel plate inside so don't get a really large one and try to grind it down.

Recoil pads

Lowest price, best value is a pad made from the sole of a thick pair of flip flops. Simply glue on. Good recoil absorption, may wear earlier than a "name" brand pad but cheap to replace- you did save the one for the other foot didn't you?

I had a Pachymeyer Decelerator D550 recently installed on my 870TB trap gun. Looks great, feels great.

Tried Pachmayr, Kick-Eez & Limbsaver.

I've routinely replaced all factory pads on my guns with Pachmayr Decelerator
"Old English" ( # 752B ) style pads ... but no complaints with the factory Sims Limbsaver ( R3 ) on a Remington & a grind-to-fit I put on a
Ruger. No. 1 in 45-70. They're all standing up well.

Ratherbefishing,
I bought a prefit for a M70, used it for a season then cut the stock and ground it down. It was convenient because of time constraints, but the stock was too long that way and really never did fit that well to begin with. It is slightly more expensive this way, if you are just going to grind it anyway.

I have good luck with the Limbsaver grind to fit pads and with the Kick-eez. Both are excellent at reducing felt recoil, although I think the kick-eez finishes up nicer.

I have put on many of the pachmayer decelerators and just put on my first limbsaver this past week. In my opinion, the pachmayer is far easier to grind and finish, the limbsaver I found is very soft, clumps off when grinding and not easy to get a smooth finish. I'll be trying freezing it for a few days and see if it will finish better that way.

Tim.
