I went to change the standard m4 collapsible stock over to the full non collapsible stock. I changed it over only to realize that i was missing a spacer for it.

Anyway suffice to say that when i went to go and replace it with the collapsible stock, it went on normally, that was not the problem... when i went to test the functionality of the rifle, i cocked it and i heard a 'ping' sound. I opened it up to find the recoil spring had moved out of the stock and the recoil spring pin was sitting in the trigger mechanisim. I have no clue as to why it would be doing this? Any ideas?

... recoil spring pin... ?? Do you mean the "buffer retainer" and "buffer retainer spring"?

If so, your buffer tube wasn't screwed down far enough into the receiver to retain the buffer retainer.

I've seen this pin pop out of both a Dlask and a Bushmaster M4. Both times the companies replaced the pin and installed them with no hassle, and told me that it wasn't seated properly into the lower receiver.
