Hey all, this will be my second season out water-fowling and my first on my own. The guy who mentored me last year was a minimalist hunter to say the least. We put out a half a dozen beat up old decoys and hid in the reeds. While I am grateful to know it can be done dead nuts simple, this year I plan on putting a little more effort this year. I have a dozen floating ducks and snow goose windsocks with heads (thank you north pro) on their way and I will be getting out for the first time in a few days. One piece of gear I have not yet decided on is a call. What would you recommend for a simple (rookie here) and effective call? Bonus points if it can be had on A&*Z^N as I live on an island and won't be in town before I head out.
Thanks all!

OH! Same question for a mallard/duck call.

Check the regs to see if an electronic call can be used for snow geese. Here in AB and SK(I live on the border of both) electronic calls are legal for snow geese provided only snow goose sounds are loaded on your call. No other migratory bird sounds are allowed on your e-caller while hunting migratory birds. I have a bunch of snow sounds on my foxpro and I carry a Buck Gardner Acrylic Snow Hammer on my lanyard. If I were buying another Snow call I'd get one from C&S Custom Calls or Bill Saunders Calls. They are the best sounding easiest blowing I've tried imo. They both have sound files on their websites you can listen to.
