Recommend A 22-250 Rifle

They may be a little more expensive than some, but I've found Sako rifles to be consistently accurate. A Sako with a heavy barrel in 22-250 would make a nice rig.

There is a Bevan King - barreld Savage solid bottom in the EE at this very moment in 22/250 AI!!
Great caliber, tqrget stock, the works, and the price is right....

I absolutely love my Tikka T3 Lite Stainless. Out of the box, slip on a scope and shot under half an inch all day.

I was plinking golf balls at 100 the other day, lot's of fun. (The glofers were a bit pissed though :) )

Now the Tikkas with their slow rate of twist cannot handle the real light or real heavy bullets but they sure love the 45-55 gr bullets. Cheap wally world ammo has been the best factory ammo for it and still shoots under an inch.
50 gr hornadys with varget powder, make 2 hole 4 shot groups.

I had a savage 112 VLS that shot quite well .25s for 5 at 100 and into an inch at 300, ya was stupid to sell that one !!
but a good shooting well prices gun, you cant go wrong with the old standards to th e700, or the T-3 work well. Had a great many 700s tack drive right out of the box after break in.

Max, hang tough for a bit until the new Savage heavy barrels come up. They are coming with a 9 twist which will allow you to shoot up to the 75gr Amax.

Now you have an accurate rig that can do dual duties of varminting and plinking to 1000yds.
