I just bought one of these and would like to mount a scope on it. Without breaking the bank, what are my options? I would like to spend about $120 tops. Is that realistic? Should I check out e-bay?

I bought a 3.5-10x36AO Bushnell Banner for my TOZ, it's very clear and has a BDC top turret. It comes with one BDC insert for 17hmr and a blank one to calibrate for any caliber. I actually liked it so much I put it on my 22-250.....and now the TOZ sports an old made in japan 4x tasco......:)
The banner was $105 I think from Higginsons.

I'm glad you asked this Deano. I was actually thinking myself of asking everyone what they're going to put on their Toz-78.

I might go this route. But I'm still a little undecided. A weaver mount adapter from Eric Brooks at cz452.com, with a red dot scope.

I picked up a nice Tasco 3-9x40mm with AO and Target turrets for 100$ shipped off CGN. I plan to mount on my Toz78. I just need some rings, 3/8" will fit?.

I think the Toz-78 has 11mm grooves. Some rings will fit a broader range of groove sizes then other's. For example 9.5-13 mm.

A good site to find rings that fit most 11mm and 3/8" dovetails is here...

Currently, my Lux is wearing Brooks 11mm Weaver mounts, Burris high QR rings and a Tasco mil-dot 6x24x42. This scope/rings pair gives me enough bell clearance to leave the Brook's peep sight mounted on the rear iron site.

Flip two levers and I'm back to irons. No return to zero issues so far. The Toz also has fixed rear sites, so this rig should work there too.

Hey, thanks skeetgunner. I just bought a Tasco mil-dot 6x24x42 from ebay.

Damn, now i've got too many scopes on hand. So now I have to buy more guns.

Or should I buy a $100 6-24x Tasco? Hmmm... I wonder what they're like on a rimfire?
They are crap. There is a reason they are $100. Thye are just barely useable from the bench - for sure no good for hunting or plinking.
I have one on my Hornet. At the highest magnification its dim, just barely useable on the bench. Contrast is so low that the rings on the target are almost impossible to see.
I keep planning to remove it but I don't shoot that gun much.

Probably a 3X9X32 with AO. The Bushnell Banner or Sportsman are good.
The smaller objective will fit over the TOZ sights better. And it won't cost more than the rifle - or too much more.
A 4X12X40 with AO costs is a much bigger scope. The extra magnification is nice if you are shooting paintballs at 50 yards but the 9X will still do.
