Recommend a mold for casting .30-30?

Mirco groove barrels require harder lead and a couple thou oversized. Some have wrapped teflon plumber tape on the bullets to prevent leading. They must be wrapped in the direction that the rifling will tighten the tape not shred it before clearing the barrel.Harold

I can recommend the Lee 150 grain Flat Nose bullet. While Lee moulds are cheaper than Lyman and others, they can produce lots of good bullets if you take some care with the moulds while casting. I have several rifle moulds that have cast a 1000 or more bullets, which is a lot for rifles (I use their 6 cavity for pistol bullet production.) Mine drop around .309, and I try to size them at .309 or so. No problems up to 1800 fps without any complicated alloys, with a gas check.

have had very good results with lee 170 gr, flat nose gas check bullets in 30-30.none of the plain base bullets i tried gave useable accuracy

I use the. Lee 150 and 170 grain sized to 0.311 at speeds up to 1750 fps. Alloy is wheel weight with 5% tin added. My favorite load is using Unique. 335 works well too.
