I have owned the Keltec KSG, Dagger SAP6, and the Lever Arms LAK12 Puma. All have thier pros and cons. Quality wise, current models of the Sap6 and Ksg are tied, while the puma is of course much like the T97 in terms of quality as is to be expected of a Norc gun.
■KSG (Pump action, double tube-fed, bullpup shotgun)
+14 plus 1 or 12 plus 1 capacity
+shortest possible overall length while remaining non-restricted.
+choke options available
+good quality
+100% reliability with all ammo types.
-terrible location pf loading port (makes it uncompetitive in shooting sports which ultimately translates to real world use)
■SAP6 (Pump action, mag-fed, conventional shotgun)
+mag-fed allows super fast loading/reloading in terms of shotguns
+barrel options available (length and choke)
+mag options available (6 and 11 round mags)
+good quality
+100% reliability with mpst ammo, but beings mag fed you do need to watch
-the pump is spring assisted so you can not lock it back
-initial units had safety switch issue (resolved)
-really sharp trigger bow made for REALLY small hands (resolved)
■LAK12 Puma (Semi-auto, mag-fed, bullpup shotgun)
+Semi-auto allows quick shooting without having to pump each round
+mag-fed for quick loading/reloading
+bolt hold open and bolt release feature
+100% reliability with strong loads (slugs & buck)
-finding a target load that functions properly can be a pain
-safety is in the same ####ty location as the T97
-trigger feels like a half cooked noodle pushing a loaf of bread..... up hill
-semi-auto mag capacities apply, 5 rounds only
-can not choke
-polymer quality feels cheap and flimsy, factory left lots of flashing on the seams
As a defense role, I would pick the Sap6. As a competition role I am torn between the Sap6 and Puma.
As the best quality firearm I would pick the KSG.
If our laws allowed us to have a firearm stored loaded for self defense, the KSG would be the clear winner there. But since we are not, the sap 6 wins in my opinion due to the quick loading ability of the mag-fed design.
