I’m mainly a milsurp guy but I love my Tar21. I got a cheapo eBay reddot on it now that I don’t trust to hold zero.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent optic that’ll hold zero but won’t cost as much as I paid for the rifle? I don’t even want a magnification. A 1x is fine for the 200 yards or so I shoot.

Holosuns and Sig red dots are the best bang for your buck. Rugged, good battery life, decent glass and reasonably priced.

I have a HS515GM, which is bombproof with a QD mount and is still below $500. It's their higher-end model but their more budget options are fine as well.

A used Aimpoint PRO with 2moa dot.

If you want to go cheaper, Sig Sauer Romeo5 with 2moa dot is pretty decent.

Im surprised nobody brought up the optics from the IWI family... Meprolight.

M21 RDS or M5

Or their newer offerings....

Keep your eye out in the private market, i've scored some unreal deals on micros in the past under that 500 dollar limit. An aimpoint is a sound buy.

I’ve got an M5 on mine. As I wrote in my review of the sight here (was that really eight years ago?) I mostly got it as it was designed for the Tavor and to try something a bit different,

I'm still biased toward looking for something with a real reticle so it doesn't depend on electronics working. Maybe a low-magnification or no-magnification scope? Optional illumination would still be good.

A 1x prism perhaps? It won't get you the same performance, the whole point of the red dot is unlimited eye relief and being parallax-free.

Prism or mepro M21 would be the obvious choice then... but to counterpoint, a quality red dot like aimpoint is practically Indestructible and batteries last years even left on...

I have the M21 in my x95.

Pretty cool sight, one thing to note is the washout that happens in different lighting so have to adjust for that or get a kill flash or REM21 light attachment to it to fix the issue. I will say it’s really nice not using batteries on it!

The Holosun HS507comp is pretty slick. You can change the reticle from a 2MOA dot to an 8/20/32MOA circle, or a combination of the dot with any of the circles. The 2MOA dot would be good for your long range stuff, and I really like the dot/8MOA circle for close up quick stuff.
