Can anyone recommend a taxidermist in the GTA area? I have a set of buck antlers still on the skullcap that were my grandfathers, that I'd like to have mounted on a plaque - with better quality than the DIY kits. Anyone had work done that they would recommend?

^^^ This. Been to Bass Pro in Vaughn? Have a look at just about anything in there for examples of work.
It is not too tough to do a very professional looking job on a plague mount. I've done a few for myself aand others for literally pennies. Just PM me and I'll give you the details.
This is one of my earlier attempts. The picture is crappy but it at least gives you an idea. A person could use better wood and add an engraved plate to dress it up.
