Hey Guy,

I am looking for input on an optic for a 12 Gauge shotgun. It is an 870 pump, has the picatinny rail. It will be primarily be used for matches using shot and some slugs up to about 50 yards max, generally though 25 and under to about 10 yards for some. It would also be nice if the same optic could be used for deer hunting.

Burris Fastfire? The site was nice on it, but it rocked a bit, and I didn't want to tighten it down too much, which might have eliminated the rocking. I didn't shoot with it at all, it just suited the gun nicely and had a low enough profile. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the site which is why I didn't lock it down.

The Burris Tactical red dots seem good too. I don't need to spend a million bucks for an eotech but I also realize it is on a shotgun so I want it to last for more than 5 seconds, so not sure about the Tasco or NCstar, which is why I am asking for input.

look into the vortex SPARC. I have it and love it. Great quality and it will handle any recoil you can throw at it without issues. They have it at One Shot Tactical.

X2 on the Vortex SPARC. I have one on my 12 gauge and it handles 3" turkey loads no problem. For a slightly less expensive option you could try the Vortex Strikefire, which I also have used with similar results.

Just tried to go to one shot tactical, and it appears someone forgot to renew their hosting or domain name.

One shot is still down, at least for me. I wanted to have a look at the scopes and pricing etc.. Calling won't do me much good unless we both have video phones. :) :) :)

I have an old Bushnell holo and I love it. From breaking clays to puting tukey's on the dinner table. I find the circle with the red dot verry easy for patterning with the buckshot and also the red dot works out great for the slug's. Of course it is only bang on @ 25 meter's using either the 8oz drams or remington reduced recoil slugs. But hey I also like the fact that I can also use the big hash marks around the out side of the reticale for movement shot's. Your call but you can also find some limited rifle scope's too that is ment for shotties. Like Leupold and Bushnell to name a few but once I had this set-up I have never changed it. So my imput on glass would be pointless.

If you're looking for a dual purpose scope that is inex#####ve take a look at a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32. That can do shotgun and deer hunting no problem. If its strictly slug use we do also make a Slughunter 3-9x40 specifically for shotgun use.

Went to One shot again and it appears the site comes up, but not much happens. Still trying to get a look at the Vortex SPARC that people are recommending.

T1/H1 micro... best shotgun sight in the world if you ask me! :)

Yep the site seems to be working. I went and had a look at the Vortex SPARC. Seems like the way to go. I emailed Brenda to let me know when there is more.

i got my sparc today! really happy, ordered it just before close on thursday (sorry tuco pike, i think i bought the last in stock) and received it today. super fast shipping! opening the box the sight looks awesome, solid construction and looks way better in person than the pictures do it justice. cant wait to put it on my cz and zero it!

I cant comment on the sparc, but I do have a strikefire that I'm very happy with. Well worth the money IMO. Blows cheap red dots all to hell, I mostly use the lowest brightness setting unless I'm shooting a bright orange target dot, a few clicks up makes it visible. The brightest setting is visible beside the sun on a bright day.
