Recommend High power rifle for silhouette

I'm interested in getting into silhouette shooting. I've read that the weight limit in the Hunting class is about 8.5lbs including optics, so I'm looking for an accurate .308 that weighs about 7lbs. Given this weight restriction, I've come across the Savage Model 14 Classic in .308 with the 22" barrel and
Remington Classic LTD Edition in .308 with the 24" barrel. Any experience or recommendations with these rifles?
