Recommendation for non restricted semi auto rifle?

Same thought for caliber. But I am also waiting to see when Tavor 7 is out for Canada.

Same here! really interested to see the Tavor 7, but I might not be able to hold out long enough for them to come into Canada. I haven't heard any rumors of expected availability in Canada, have you?

Swiss Arms or ACR.

And before anyone whines, Turdope wants them ALL gone so it does not matter. Enjoy life while you can.

I'm still giving some serious thought to picking up a Swiss Arms while they're still NR but my Famae is doing everything the Swiss will do, it just doesn't look quite as good while doing it.

If I got the Swiss I'd have to sell the Famae to fund it. Tough call.

The sl8 is a bit nose heavy but is reliable and shoots fairly accurate. The cz858 has been and still is an excellent option.

SL8 I heard the parts are harder to get and more expensive. I know those AR type/shape/style rifle has common or more economic parts on the market, both factory or after market.

You heard correctish. Big parts like bolts and carriers are going to be quite pricey. Firing pins and springs you can get from brownells. Realistically you should get 10s of thousands of rounds out of the gun before breaking anything. Canadian sl8s follow euro design so the piston and bcg are same parts as the g36.

So it's not that bad about maintenance in terms of parts and the gun is quite reliable.

It looks like the gun is more solid than the Black Creed Labs BCL102, which I tried yesterday, quite plastic than other polymer body rifles.

It's a g36 with a chunky barrel, thumbhole stock and a much better trigger. It's well proven, very reliable, and lasts a long time. Despite what i read on german newspapers the actual troops seem reasonably happy with the g36. Like i said it is nose heavy due to that massive barrel. And some people dislike the thumbhole stock. But there are other options available for grips and stocks.

And yes parts are expensive and hard to come by... but odds are you won't need any.

Got a tavor X95 thinking getting one more rifle for the holiday.

Not really a AR fan(mainly the restricted category part and not much options for outdoor range), but if the price is right and design is cool, gun is reliable I am in.

If not a specific model, any brand I should definitely consider?

Bullpup wouldn't be the first choice as I got the Tavor.
Not sure about how reliable of Kriss Vector is.
Haven't had any thought about other rifles yet. Open for any suggestions.

Budget is under 3k, I guess that should cover most of the mainstream rifles.

Thanks in advance.
