I'm looking to reload 375 H&H and 30-06. I'd like to use the same powder for both for the sake of convenience. Would Varget be a good choice or is there something better? I'm looking to shoot 235 grain to 300 grain 375 H&H bullets.

Also, can you guys give me any place for finding 375 brass and bullets. So far I've only found some at X reloaded. I saw that cabelas and wholesale sports had some stock but their prices were a bit higher.

Thanks,

Mik

H4350, W760, RL-22 for powder.

Trade-Ex has PRVI .375 H&H brass in stock... 100 pc. Bag for $99.

Scrounge up bullets... as you travel stop in at gunshops and take a peek.

IMR4064. Varget will do. Look in your manual though.
Finding .375 H&H brass and bullets isn't easy for anybody. Isn't a high demand cartridge and were you are matters. Shipping bullets will get expensive. However, Epp's lists brass. No prices, but it'll be pricey. Anything with H&H after it will be pricey.
Remington only makes brass seasonally. Other brands run about a buck each, Stateside.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I brought Prvi brass from tradex and some Remington brass and a few bullets for a fellow CGN member. I'm set for the first batch when my press arrives.

Both cartridges work with a wide range of powders, I happen to mostly prefer H4350 in my 30-06 ( 180 gr.) and RL15 in the .375 ( 270 gr) , but either powder will do a good job in the other. The powders "W760/H414, 4350's, 100V, N204, Vihtavuori N150/550" mentioned above will all do a good job with heavier 270-300gr. bullets in the .375, and will work really well in the 30-06 with 165-180's, but for an ideal powder for both if lighter bullets like 235 gr. .375 and 150 gr. 30-06 are considered I'd use a little bit faster burn rate, like others wrote, 4064, RL15, or ... Varget!

IMR4064. For the same velocity it'll require fewer grains than H4350, which translates into less recoil. It also seems to be more frequently in stock here in Winnipeg, which is why I went with it when I tried to standardize on a smaller # of powders.

As for which is better accuracy/temperature/consistency-wise between both cartridges - I cannot say.

A great source for bullets is reloadinginternational.com.

Don't be too quick to count WC735 out. It'll work up to 260gn bullets in either the '06 or the 375, but you are going to lose some performance in the 300's. It's all in what you want/need. I wouldn't hesitate because the loss of performance can be compensated for by the cost of the powder and better hunting practices. But that's for hunting.

Good luck finding WC735 right now though. I think its days are now over. H4350 and W760 would be good bets though. Hard to beat them in the -06 for sure.

Once again, thanks for all the advice guys. I ended up being up two pounds each of IMR4350 and IMR4064 as that's what I had available locally. Now the long wait until my press et al get here for I can start reloading.

Its actually "good luck finding ANY powders right now". If the OP lives close I could help him out. Not being my first rodeo, I saved up and bought powder when it WAS available. I bought a "suitable" powder for ALL of my rifles and a "suitable" powder for handguns and shotguns.

I'm doing some testing with IMR 4831 in my 375 H&H with 270 gr bullets. I'm about to load up another batch with 300 gr bullets. Will let you know once I get some range results. Have not tried it in my 3006. I have 20 lbs of varget so I may do some testing with it as well. I also have 8 lbs of IMR 4350 if the 4831 doesn't give me the results I want. The challenge with reloading for big bore cartridges is how fast they eat powder

I have a sako AV in 375 H&H and found 70 grains of IMR4064 with 300 grain hornady bullets gave me just over 2500 fps and good accuracy. Also seemed that it likes to have about 200-300 thou jump from the lands. Tried crimping with Lee factory crimp, but didn't see any accuracy improvement, maybe actually worse. Other Good powder for 300 grain bullets is H4350. 80.0 grains gives the ~2520 fps and got it to shoot nosler partitions at .130" at 50 yards. (I did pillar bed action and free flow the barrel). Good Luck!

The 30-06 with 180 gr bullets and the 375 H&H with 250 gr bullets make good use of practically the same powders, and yield very similar MV's, because the two have very similar expansion ratios. The same can be said for 200 gr bullets in the 30-06 and 270's in the 375 H&H. Just about any powder from the 4895's to the 4831's work very well with a decent range of bullet weights.
