Hi folks. Need some advice or recommendations on what brand or type of shell I should use for this up shotgun deer season.

Here's the scenario. I'll be hunting an open field field and have the possibility to shoot close range since I'm on a tree line but also the ability to shoot across the field which is anywhere from 150 to let's say 200 yards. Unlikely but I want to know what shells are out there that would be better for suited to potential longer range shots.

I use a semi auto browning silver with a rifled barrel.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Danielbear22, the question is not so much what is out there ..... the question is ... what brand of slug does your particular barrel like.

Rifled shotgun barrels are finicky .... and each one is different. With one brand of slugs you might get a 3 inch group at 100 meters .... and with another only a 12 inch group at the same distance. And you will not know which slug/sabot and barrel combination will work and until you have tried that combination with that particular barrel.

So, you will have to try a couple different sabot slugs and see what accuracy you get with them out of your barrel .... and this can be expensive.
And once you have found that slug that your barrel likes, you better buy a large stock pile of those slugs/sabots because there is no guarantee that the manufacturer will still make those slugs the next year.

If I had to test a couple of sabot slugs I would definitely include the Remington Accutips and the Hornday SST .... they seem to be shooting better out of more barrels.

But I would not expect more than a 2 to 3 inch group at 100 meters. Barrel/slug combinations that shoot under 2 inch groups are pretty rare .... or lets say not common .....

Slug guns are finicky. I reload for 12 ga. I tried multiple loads before I found one that would shoot under 3” at a 100 m. Buy a few different brands and see what your gun likes. Don’t shoot more than 3 shots as the barrel will heat up and groups will increase in size. Next 2 shots open my group up to about 8”. Let the barrel cool between groups.
