Excuse me if it has been posted before, but what would you recommend for .40cal. production without spending over $2000.00.Thanks.

My two bits.
How about the CZ SP01 Tactical?
If you're a fan of the SP01 Shadow....which only comes in 9mm.
A very good alternative...nice weight (good for the .40 cal) , smooth DA and crisp break SA trigger...and decocking lever rather than safety.
Mags are cheap and holsters are made from Fobus, Blackhawk, Bladetech....etc.
MSRP $850 US.

Good luck

Andy

Not reloading yet

I have a 9mm Shadow and do like it very much. I swear I thought Storm's first answer would be Tanfoglio.

I bought a Glock 22 (.40) for production. If I did it again, I'd buy the 9mm. Primary reason I went for the .40 was because I didn't have to buy a new set of dies and could just change things over from my standard gun.

Dumb...after I change the powder measure, and adjust the seating die to the new height (I use a Redding competition seating die, so it's easy to switch it back and forth between 2 settings), it's still almost as easy to just switch out to a new toolhead/shellplate.

My next production gun will definitely be a 9mm.

Well if you have a Shadow..........I would agree with the post above and buy more ammo by way of a new loading press that you can buy and be ahead of the game.

if all you had was a .40 and wanted to shoot IPSC in Production.........I would say go for it.

But I see no logic in buying another production gun in .40 when you have a perfectly good 9mm production gun.

I bought a cop used Glock22 in .40 for something like $425. 180 grain bullet loaded with 3grains of Titegroup it makes power factor of about 129 in production.

For $2K you can get a Stock11 in .40cal and shoot both Standard and Production. If you reload 2.8 of Titegroup under a 180 gr LTC bullet is very soft shooting for Production. The Tanfoglios with polygonial rifling are very accurate guns using lead bullets I might add. I have the Model "L" with the 9MM & .40cal top ends and while not up to a Stock11 it is one sweet pistol.

I haven't chased major loadings and Standard Division yet but intend to.

Take Care

Bob

You have one of the best IPSC production guns available. So why don`t you gear up with that and find another lame excuse to buy another gun.

I prefer its tuesday, time to buy another gun:)
