So my wife and I decided to go to the Lac st. jean area of Quebec to visit her family for our honeymoon in September (been together for 8 years already so the honeymoons been over for a while now) and as a reward for my kind act I've bartered not 1 but 4 days allotted to hunting. My target is snow geese but ill take any waterfowl i can get a shot at.

so the way I see it is I have 2 options;
1.
I hire an outfitter which I've never done, is a costly way of doing things and would eat up my budget quite fast. Plus as far as i know there is no way of guaranteed success and would be disappointed if I only got to shoot at Canada's and ducks not snows. The problem I'm having here is that it's hard to find a reputable outfitter in that area and have friends that have been burned by the main outfitter that I can find. Which is why I'm asking you fellow nutters for help finding a good one.

I can bring a small spread of dekes and my home made sneak boat with me hit the lake and hope for the best. but I've only got 4 days to get as much time in as possible and prefer to scout my hunt for a day or two to ensure success. Plus snow geese are outta the question and all the unknown factors make this option kinda sketchy.
My questions for you nutters here is does anyone have any experience with out of Provence unguided hunts?

i lived there and i doubt you ll find crown land where you can set up your decoys ... for private lands why not and dream ....

there is a waterfowl club for the Saguenay .... i may try to find their contact for you.

more seriously you ll go to check with the owners of Pronature - Alma and if they recommend you someone if you speak french. not the best in that neck of wood of quebec if not lol ....

i ve been away for close to 4 years and i dont know if something that was good is still ...

Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to look up the club in sagueany. Could I not just setup on the water? Here in ontario as long as there is no discharge bylaw in place the water is mostly fair game... This way my plan for lac st jean, unless I can find an outfitter in the area
