I've been using the cheap hand thrower for years now and want to upgrade to a proper throwing machine. Looking to spend around 100 at most. The one I'm looking at now is called the Trius one step trap. Any recommendation's?

that cheap canadian tire spring loaded thing works fine. cheaper then most and make sure you get one that can fit doubles, and different size clays like "midi".
its always fun to change things around with size of clays

You can also tie rope and pull it like ur shootin HCP from a distance

Trap machine for personal use

If you're handy, why not ask your local club if they have any spare Winchester Westerns handset trap machines kicking around. These can be purchased very reasonably and are well made machines. They throw regulation singles or doubles and are powered by 110 VAC. They will oscillate upto 94 degrees and can be locked in position to throw a target in a straight line. You'll have to self load each target onto the throwing arm. Automatic trap machines are outside your budget. Ian Brotherston Western Retro Products Ltd.

Ian that's not a bad idea. Have you done this before or heard of someone else doing it? How cheap are we talking here? How would I power it when I'm out in the sticks?

I bought a machine 5 years ago from Ian and the quality is sensational. While not cheap, for the quality of the machine, you can't beat it.
30,000 clays and counting, not one issue, and Ian got me a deal on an international arm if you want to try tour luck with white flyers leaving at 85mph!!!!

What kind of machines do you have Ian?

They are Winchester Western. Very good machines, and will last a long time.
I have one I bought for $400. and had Ian install a 270 bird count automatic trap-loader while he was overhauling my machine, which eliminates the trap setter in the trap house.
Works great.

I bought the double stack machine. Big fun and still better target presentation than the 'plate and arm 12v' launchers.

re trius trap

I bought a trius one step, a month ago.
I works flawlessly.
I bought it from Le Baron.
It costs $99.95
Came up to $131.00 shipped to my house.
I can go out alone and practice.
I would buy another one in a hearbeat.

I bought the trius double from whole sale sports for 94$ and it chucks singles at 35km and doubles at 30km and apprx 50-60yrds. I mounted it to a pick up truck tire/rim for stability.

I love it

Cheers
