Recommendations for learning trap

Another thing you can do is have the trap set to throw straightaways only. Easier to start hitting. Or go to the skeet field and shoot low house #7.

Hey Duke,

My bf and I are in the same boat. We got into trap shooting at our local club at pretty much the exact same time. Being a female myself, here is my advice.

I went to a gun store and tried positioning a shotgun without knowing names or prices. I found what felt good in terms of weight, tried it out for a week of trap shooting and took it in to have the stock shortened for a meer $40.

Another suggestion...a shoulder pad. Being a smaller woman, I was being bruised quite easily. I found that I could not find a vest with padding in Canada via the internet (including Bass Pro and Cabela's). I just got a pad that can be strapped to my shoulder and it gives me just that little more confidence to shoot in my own style and with consistency.

Hope this helps.
