Hello fellow CGN folks. Not sure if this is the place, or if it is even allowed.

I am looking for some shooting partners who are safety minded, easy going and interested in longer range shooting (600m+) I have made a temporary move from up North to the Vancouver area, and am not sure I want to invest in a range membership (not sure the ranges are the scene I am looking for either)

Are there any other options or recomendations for finding some long(ish) range folks to shoot with?

I would have loved to make it out to the competition in Nanaimo today, but learned about it too late.

I have asked around for places to shoot and have a few places to scout up around squamish and out east.

Any help would be greatly apprechiated.

Thanks

Matches are probably the best place to meet fellow long range shooters. I went to my first one (the Chilliwack match) this June and met a few buddies with whom I now go down and shoot the NWPRL matches in Washington which are stupidly fun. I've made some real good buddies down there as well! I was hoping to go to the Nanaimo match as well but instead I went to a match down near Yakima yesterday (wanted to make sure I qualified for the Finale)!). I really enjoyed the match in Chilliwack and assume the Nanaimo one has a similar layout but the matches in the States are just next level, one of the stages yesterday was out to 1274 yards!

I honestly don't think there are any clubs in the Lower Mainland who's range goes out to 600m+? Mine in Pemberton goes to 475 yards but I've also got a spot I can hang steel out to 970 yards...

The Matches do sound like a lot of fun, I will keep my eyes out for one. Do you know of any matches left this season? The only one I have noticed is a Palma match, which I believe is iron sights only.
Thanks Dave.

The only match left this season in the NWPRL is the finale on November 11-12 for which you have to get invited. The season starts back up in April, I believe as they're changing things around this year so the Finale will no longer be in November and benefit from hopefully nicer weather. Also UNSC (Upper Nisqually Sporting Club) does a monthly PRS-style match I believe on the first weekend of every month. There range only goes out to about 500 yards but it's quite fast paced, from what I understand. Another league to look into is the Rifleman's Team Challenge (http://www.riflemansteamchallenge.com) which starts (at least out West) Feb 18-19 at Rattlesnake Mt with the Cold Bore Challenge. You do need a partner for that though.

We are a little bit of a trekk for you but Rock Lake Rifle Range in St John WA has 60 plus pc of steel out to 1380 and more to follow. Membership is reasonable. Another place to look that would be a 3 hour drive is Wanatchee WA. Find Jesse Redell or Jim Findlay on FB

Duely noted ssatt68...not far at all...just going thru paperwork and registered for NRL JC Steel match in May.

You folks in yards no doubt.
Thanks for the info.
