Recommended a scope for savage axis 308

Thanks for the suggestion I’ll look into that.
What are your thoughts on bushnell Engage 3x9x40.
Also was looking at a Burris prevail?

Sooner or later you will come to appreciate the Leupold product.
For me they simply work.
Bright glass, fit and finish and the availability of bases and rings and Butler Creek Scope caps will go along way in keeping you happy in the field at the range and knowing from year to year your optics choice was the right one.
There is a $500.00 Buris in the EE that is reasonably priced , but imo is heavier that the comparably Leupold mentioned above.
The upside is the scope can follow your upgrades in rifle choices down the road should you so choose or if you wish to sell your money will be safe in return will little or no loss of depreciation.
Just my .05 worth of jusitnflation opine.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about leupold. Might be a bit over my budget. But then again but once cry once. Or wait and safe up for a sale…
I haven’t owned much with scopes. So first time looking at the market and all the options is a bit mind-boggling.

Thanks Rob for the advice!

As previously stated, pick up a used Bushnell 3200 or 3500. They are a decent scope with a lifetime warranty. You should be able to get one for less than 250$. Thinking ahead, it would be well suited for a rifle two or three times the cost of your Axis.

Hello

Looking for a half decent scope for my savage axis 2 in .308.
My budgets $200-$300.

Apologizes if this has been beat to death. Or if it’s even worth putting a new scope on.

Cheers
Thanks

look at the distances you might be using the scope for ....most folks are over scoped....based on the use...if.your cal and your ability suggest less than 200 yds look at a 1.5 to 4x. or 2x to 5x..and take advantage of the field of view...there are always factors fore and aft of your game that will be apparent to you then one can compute the situation don

I just bought a Burris 2.5-10 x 42 with the standard reticle. This will be going on my next rifle

I bought that same same scope with the illuminated reticle for my deer rifle and it’s fantastic. So much so, that I bought another one for my muzzleloader.

Others in our hunt camp bought some as well so there’s 8 of them showing up at the hunt camp at various times.

I just snagged another used sightron S2 big sky for just over $300 shipped. I’d compare the sightron to a vx2’s that I’ve owned, but without the resale value. Might be the best used buy when they come up.
