Hi CGNutz, I own a Stoeger O/U 20 gauge shotgun (28 inch barrel), and will be turkey/grouse hunting in the fall. What do you guys/gals recommend for a choke set and preferred choke to use (Modified, Improved cylinder, Full) for this make and model?

Your inputs are much appreciated.

For turkeys try your full choke. You need to pattern it with the shells you plan on using. Might have to try a few different shells to see what patterns the best. If that doesn't give you a decent pattern maybe try a turkey choke. Primos Jellyhead is decent and not overly expensive. Most full chokes with #5/6 lead will kill any turkey out to 35/40 yards.

For grouse, IC or Mod.

I've killed turkeys with mod and full as well as turkey chokes. You'll have to pattern your ammo choice in each choke to see the best results. Same goes for waterfowl. With steel I generally use more open chokes and with bismuth or tungsten I tighten up the choke selections

Use the full and mod for turkey. The mod choke is ok inside 25 yards. Shoot some patterns at different distances to see what your limit is for turkey.

With a real tight turkey choke, it's easy to miss completely if they come in real close.

For grouse, replace the full with imp cyl, if you want to.
