I plan on loading out some 9mm within a few weeks. I am looking for a consistant powder that works well with a progresive reloader (LNL AP).

The less expensive the better.

On a side note, has anyone had powder shipped to them? Is it just better to pick it up locally? (if available)

For me, the best 'bang' for the buck would be Hodgdon Titegroup. Actually, it's the only powder I use for 9mm, .357 Magnum and .45 ACP. I've had powder shipped to me from Higginson's Powders via DHL, if you buy over 21 lbs from them, shipping is 'free'. Good service and fast shipping.

The only caveat with Titegroup is that it won't fill your cases fully, so be very careful/aware about double charging.....

I use Hodgdon's Universal Clays. One pound goes a long way. I started with HS-6, and made 1100 rounds per pound, now I can do 1627 rounds per pound.

I load 9mm with tightgroup on a LNL AP, and am happy with the results. You have to have the pistol rotor though. The rifle rotor it comes with will not work. By that I mean up to .5 grain varriance in powder throws. You NEED the pistol rotor and metering insert.

Given that you'll use the pistol rotor etc, Titegroup. But any ball powder will do. Stay away from the flake powder (Clays, Univeral Clays, etc) - they are relatively more likely to bridge and squib.

Thanks. I called up accuracy plus and it's a stock item. Looks like I'll have no problem getting the hodgdon titegroup.

Oh yeah, and the pistol rotor is in the mail as we speak :D

I guess while I'm here I might as well ask about .223 remington. I'll be loading that in maybe october or november. What's the story with .223 in a progressive? Extruded? Spherical? Hodgdon? Winchester?

Don't put bullseye in the .223.;):D

Your going to get a lot of replies to use Varget in the 223, W748 is a good choice in a progressive. It's a ball and meters excellently.
