I was looking into getting a RDS for my rifle and discovered that when I look through a red dot sight it actually appears as a blob. I do not see a crisp dot but more of a 'star-like' hairy mess in the middle of the reticle. Has anyone else experienced this? How did people resolve the problem?
Some facts with regards to my situation:
- I am in my 40's and I use reading glasses for small print. I recently saw an optometrist and I require a small correction in my left eye for distance but my dominant right eye is perfect. I do have a mild astigmatism.
- The red dot is a blob when I look through my right eye (dominant) but when I look through my left eye it's perfect.
- I've tried several sights in two different stores (WSS, Bass Pro) and all have the same result. I know I looked at Vortex (Sparc & Crossfire), BSA, Truglo and a few others.
- I've heard that Eotech might work better for some people but I haven't had a chance to try one out.
