I have an Aimpoint Comp M4S that I kind of like. It came with the QRP2 mount which has served me well for a while, but does not work with the new rifle I put the optic on. The large knob on the mount hits the dust cover on my left handed stag 10. Because it's the M4S with the low battery tube I can't just switch the mount to put the knob on the other side - battery tube is in the way. So I ask you, CGN, what can I get in Canada and where do I buy it?
Some sort of quick release is pretty much a necessity. I'd like to try a 3x Magnifier in the budget category - Burris has one with good reviews - but I don't currently have one that I need to match. If you have recommendations for either a Magnifier or a flip to side mount that can be set up to flip to the left I'd love to hear it. I do use BUIS of the flip up variety (the metal magpul ones), but I don't really have enough experience to have a preference between absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness.
I've gotten myself even more confused about the height of mounts! Burris says the center of their AR Tripler is 1.65" above the pic rail, Aimpoint says my current mount is 1.5", LaRue Tactical has some good looking mounts available in 1.725 or 1.525". The Magpul MBUS Pro's just say they're "standard AR sight height". I'm guessing somewhere around 1.7" is lower 1/3 cowitness and somewhere around 1.5" is standard height/absolute cowitness? Why is there such a discrepancy between the 1.65" magnifier height and the 1.725" LaRue tactical mount height? What do I want?
