Red dot on your battle rifle

Really depends on the distance. When I plink at 50yards, and in bright environments, I tend to prefer the 4MOA.
Anything further away and I prefer the 2MOA - it just obstructs less of the target.

I actually just bought the Canadian tire special Tasco red dot sight with 5 MOA sight and its adjustable . Rated for shotguns and up to .357 magnum apparently .. Ive read mixed reviews on it but i really wanted something cheap to just test the red dot waters , im not really a fan of them and will post back with my review of if it holds zero or not ..

I have this on my 22 and it was hitting 2-3" targets from maybe 60 feet away standing, np. outdoors I have to use the brighest setting #11, otherwise I can barely see the dot. I know a .22 has no recoil but I've taken the red dot off and placed it back on without marking my position and it's held nicely, i like it a lot for $50

I've read a lot of good reports on the Tascos. That company gets called Trashco from time to time, but they've made some decent products that don't break the bank.

2 moa works fine for me, you want that dot turned down so you cand just see it, shoot with both eyes open and your off. If its too big and too bright it upsets the balance of the optical purpose and doesn't work nearly as well as intended.. for a 308 though you are much better off with an illuminated 1-4 ( VERY HIGH QUALITY) as they work like a red dot but give you magnification when you need it, S&B is supposed to be comming out with a 1-8 I would wait for it sell a gun or two to buy it and stick it on top. Can't get better than that and they do work almost as fast as dedicated red dots

Yes. I have a Springfield scout mount which isn't quite low enough to cowitness with the irons. The ultimak rail sits lower. Let me dig up a pic of what I have.
