Looking to put one of the red dot reflex sights on a Baikal 22/20 gauge so went down the WSS in North Edmonton and had a look at what they had in stock. I like the look and feel of the Bushnell as it is clear and small enough it doesn't get in the way when using the shotgun. Only problem is at $165 it only has a two year limited warranty. (I Would would use it without the high rise extension)

Vortex makes Red Dot sights with a lifetime warranty, about the same price but wSS says they don't make a reflex model.

Looked at Trijicon, but they are in the $750 range, which is more than the gun cost.

Have been doing a bunch more research this morning. Out of that, I have found that the rep at WSS is incorrect, Vortex does make a reflex sight. Suggested retail is $529, so a little over the budget I set.

That said I have checked every maker I can find and the longest warranty, other than Vortex, is Zeiss who also at lifetime, Aimpoint 10 years in civilian use and Trijicon at 5 years. All of the rest, including Bushnell, Doctor, Aim Optics etc are 1 or 2 years on the electronics.

Would still like to here the opinions of anyone who has used the various red dot reflex sights in terms of longjevity, and usefulness for head shooting grouse at 25-35 yards and how well you can see using them for wing shooting on the 20 guage barrel.

Looking for suggestions from personal experience for a good usable unit that has a good warranty, will mount to the 11 mill rail and is less than $400. Thanks all for the input and a Happy New Year.

Burris fastfire 2 or 3 would fit the bill. Far better than the bushnell with regards to quality.

So I did a little checking on your recommendation. Can get the Fast Fire 11, 4 MOA for $204 plus shipping etc and a month or so for delivery from IrGuns or $242 picked up totoday at P and D. Best of all it carries Burris's lifetime warranty, as does the FF3. I think thanks are clearly in order because you just helped me finalise the decision on which reflex to buy. Get lifetime warrant, good optics, and well under the $400 budget. Plus, $9 for a 3/8 dovetail adaptor and it will mount direct to hte Baikal. Thanks again and Happy New Year.

One small correction to what I posted. The Burris Fast Fire is a one year warranty not Lifetime. I must have read something wrong because when I checked at the dealer it is clear the warranty is only one year on both the Fast Fire 2 and 3.

Dean2, how do you like the Baikal 22/20 combo gun? Can you post a pic of it with
the red dot mounted? I am very interested in this combo. Thanks.

I really like this combo. Good for everything from deer to rabbit or grouse and wing shooting. Personally I like using it with the open sights but my brother uses it too and his eyes aren't so good so will get the red dot for it. Once I pick up the red dot will try to remember to post a picture of it mounted. The Baikal has a dovetail rail just behind the rear sight so it will go on very easily and will sit quite a lot lower than a scope would. Also, I have used these red dots in Europe hunting running boar and they work real well for situations where you need good peripheral vision.

Pictures with a small scope and a reflex sight that has a longer tube than the red dot reflexes I am looking to replace it with.

Thanks for posting the pics, Dean. As you say, the Baikal 22/20 is a great all around woods gun.
It will be sweet with the low mounted red dot.
