So I have a red dot that I got on sale for 50$, and it’s a 5 MOA and I noticed on my windage and elevation adjustments one click is 1” at 100yrds. I plan to sight this one in for 50yrds, so that would mean one click would be 1/2” at 50yrds correct ? Or am I backwards lol

So what exactly is the difference between a 1MOA and my 5MOA ? And does it affect on how I just described for adjusting??

The 5 moa refers to the size of the dot itself.

Your dot will cover 5" at 100yards.
Or cover 10" at 200

Your zeroing adjustment will be 1 click per inch at 100 yards,

So if you plan to zero on closer targets, say 50 yards each click will be 1/2"

Or on a 25 yard target 1/4"

:yingyang:
Its simply the size of the dot. A 5 moa dot is 5 times as big as a one moa dot. No effecton how to adjust.

Ah ok makes sense, see the video I finished watching I was a bit confused with that part lol, but good to know makes things a bit easier to adjust and dial in :)
Definitely be adjusting the new red dot next time I’m out target shooting

You guys rock !!

If you're going to be using a red dot at distance, the smaller the better as far as not covering the entire target when aiming downrange. A larger 5 or 6 MOA dot will completely cover the target at distance whereas a 1 or 2.5 MOA dot will still show the target for more precise shots. I hope that makes sense. A red dot (in general), at range, is not going to be super accurate. You'll shoot in the same general area though. You'll want a dot with magnification (unless it's on a pistol).

Ya I’ll have to keep my eyes open for a 1MOA then eventually change to it, makes sense for sure yes

Coupla things - Your existing 'dot' will cover 2.5" at 50 yds, so it will cover a good bit of your target. And going to 1-MOA will cost lotsa bucks, look 'em up.
I have a 'dot' on my Sav-64 and it's a 3-MOA (cost ca $50 2-3 yrs ago). It's fine for plinking, I just hold the dot at 6-o'clock of my desired POA and get pretty close. Not going to light matches but can hit golf balls. A 64 isn't high-accuracy anyway.

PS - I forgot to say, My dot is a holo, not 'tubular'. Either one starts at ca $50 and goes waaay up . . .

I have seen some 1MOA on Amazon in the feyachi brand some have good reviewed others mixed, they’re not too deer. Anyone tried those by chance ?
