I have started using a chiappa double badger a bit more for a rabbit gun and i'm not thrilled with the ghost ring sights.

I'm sure lots of people use them well but between wearing glasses, starting to likely need bifocals but not admitting it and just lack of familiarity with the particular sights i keep thinking the small rail the rear sight attaches to would fit great for a red dot or some sort of collimator sight.

The problem i am running in to is that anything that fits a dovetail seems to be cheap amazon stuff, anything from a reputable brand fits picatinny. If it were just on a 22 i would just get the cheapest one available and not worry about it but i'm not confident it would hold up to the 20ga recoil that well.

There are dovetail to picatinny adapters but that just adds extra height and bulk where it doesn't need to be.

Has anyone had success with one of the amazon red dots that would fit a dovetail and will hold up to the 20ga or know of something decent quality that will fit without an adapter?

UTG makes a dovetail to picatinny adapter that only raises the height about 1/8" it is probably your best bet. It weighs very little.

I have a pic-to-dove adapter on some 22s that should hold up to your 20G. Just an insert that fits inside the pic channel of the red-dot, like the Leapers above. Only ca $18 on azoom, so not a Big Gamble. https://www.amazon.ca/HIGOO-Dovetail-Picatinny-Weaver-Adaptor/dp/B08R8BFL6S/ref=sr_1_3
They both look very similar and should do the trick, thanks for the suggestions

I have used the UTG on my double badger, it's 410 & 22 mag, but it doesn't move.
Blue loctite, and proper tightening. I realize yours is 20 ga. but you won't have a problem with these.
And they keep a low profile.
