Red Dot vs Holographic

Im looking to get an optic for my x95 with a 3x magnifier.

My question is, what is the difference between red dots and holograhpics?

In my eyes both are 1x zoom optics but holographic cost way more than red dots. I googled it but it didn't make much sense to me.

I know this is a noob question but still

Ahhh, okay makes sense. Thank u so much, i did not know that the reticle got magnified in red dots, that's a massive L

they both technically get magnified, however, the eotech starts off as more of a tiny point source, that your eye interprets as 1 moa, so when it gets magnified its prob still 1 moa, if that makes sense

parallax error is the bigger advantage IMO, when using a rds , speed and odd shooting positions and angles are much more common,. check out the parallax error between eotech and aimpoint
