Are any of you fellas with glasses shooting red dot sights with any success?

I had an Eotech but that thing just blurred me out. I got to play with an aimpoint all too briefly... are they any good for old farts with glasses?

With glasses the Aimpoint is not that bad, the best would probably be a lite etched reticle like a Vortex Spitfire or Primary Arms.

I've got astigmatism and use red dots all the time. The sort of look like a blurry hourglass to me.

When I use a red dot, I'm not expecting pin point accuracy, ability to hit a 6" target at 100 yards is good enough for me. Then again, I have a very mild prescription, I don't really need glasses to function 90 % of the time. I agree an etched reticle might be a good solution.

Well Stop getting so OLD!! Or Get a 30Mw laser!! Woo hoo

Polarized prescription shooting glasses.

Vortex and Holosun red dots were starburst central for my eyes. The Aimpoint was still a bit fuzzy but manageable and usable to my eyes... also the Bushnells seem to work good for me too.

I explained the problem to my optometrist and he made glasses that correct the astigmatism . I actually brought in a red dot when having my eye exam to see what it would look like with different prescriptions. The dot now looks like a dot. The problem I face is I look thru the optic differently from different shooting positions. Standing I look straight thru my glasses no problem But prone I am looking thru the top part of my glasses which has a curvature

If it's truly bad enough, like others have said an etched reticle can be a great option. Depending on your budget, try and look through some of the higher end optics - Elcan, Acog etc... the clarity of image and reticle is absolutely fantastic for those with an astigmatism etc. The Elcan has the advantage of being a true 1X, and Also 4X. The Acog - if you can shoot with both eyes open, the BAC (Bindon Aiming Concept) is fantastic as well. I also shoot with an Aimpoint Comp M4 with glasses/astigmatism, and with a reasonable brightness the star-burst is very manageable.

I have an Aimpoint Micro T-1. Same thing. The T-2 is suppose to better for astigmatism but didn't look any different to me.

I have astigmatism also I definitely noticed the difference between between the T-1 & T-2 for clarity and definition of the dot, just also got the new COMPM5 which is the T-2 with AAA battery & I have the exact same clarity as the T-2, my two cents worth.

If you can find one, try looking through the Holosun HS510C Reflex. Believe it or not but by many accounts the 510C is great for eyes with astigmatism, my dad tried the one I have one ready to drop on my Scorpion and he said it was clear as a bell. Each case is different but it's worth looking at and IMO clearer than the Eotech's I've used.

Hmmm, maybe worth a second look. Last time I played with a T -2 was 3 years ago at SHOT. Maybe my Astigmatism wasn't bad then?
Thanks!

I have tried almost every make of red dot out there and finally bought myself a trijicon TA44 1.5 X 16 mini acog. The clarity is amazing,it doesn't have much of a footprint, works with both eyes open, has the best eye relief of any acog I've looked through (more than it says it does) and blends right into the background. It was pricey but at least now I don't see a fireball when I look through the optic or have it turned down so low I can't see it if light conditions change.
The only downfall I could see with it is the slight magnification (didn't really bother me, it might others) and the intensity of the chevron under bright light where you would want to put a piece of tape over some of the fiber optic cable.
Everyone that has looked through it has commented on how crystal clear it is.

Now that you mention it, my 510C seems pretty clear. I'll take a better look through it at the range on Wednesday.

If an option, look at the dot through the arpeture of your rear sight...will often clean it right up. The smaller the arpeture the better.

Having very near-sighted vision combined with astigmatism I found tube sights such as the Aimpoint M4 are usable for me with the dots being only slightly fuzzy. The bigger more open sights such as EOTechs were usable but much worse for me.
