Just a question to all the people out there on Gunnutz. My Uncle had a red lanyard on his battledress.i'm just not sure which uncle.I had one that was PPCLI,one that was the Loyal Eddies, and one that was 1rst Special Forces.Any ideas?Smellie suggested that I pose this question to you on this board.

Yes,That is the question that I am asking. The lanyard is red, plain and simple red, no imbelishments. It is quite dull,I'm not sure if this is from the years of display in my Baba's front room or if the lanyard was originaly a dull blood red.

I think it is more likely to have always been dull red.. most dyes tend to lighten with age in the sun.

I couldn't find out precisely the source of your lanyard. You might have better luck directly contacting the regimental museums of the units in question.

PPCLI - http://www.ppcli.com/

Failing that, you might try the national war museum in ottawa. In my experience there are some very helpful veterans available!
