Building an IPSC Open Glock and have decided on the Holosun 507 and now trying to decide whether to go red or green dot.

Anyone familiar with using both red and green outdoors for competition able to chime in on which is better or if there is any real advantage of one over the other?

I used both red and green fibre optic front sights when shooting IPSC production several years back and had no preference, but have never used a dot optic in competition.

Thanks in advance.

Some people think that green dot is better fòr indoors but for me red is the best for indoor and outdoor matches

Your dot is to be on a brown target. In every condition you could think of and have never lost any colour dot. Green has been the easiest to track.

What if I like to walk my shots in?
I usually start shooting a couple feet before my dot hits the target, so green would likely get lost in the trees before I begin my strafing run.

a lot of research on it and to summarize there is a lot of green in nature and we evolved to be able to see the differences, that's the theory and it supports why green dot's are surprisingly easy to pick up and track. I switched my main pistol and rifle to green. No regrets.
