I'm looking at getting another optic, but would prefer something that I can use at CQB distances and out to 100-200m; preferably with an illuminated reticle.

ACOG, ELCAN, EOTech are being considered, along with a few others, but I wanted to see what you all think is the best color for an illuminated reticle generally speaking in your opinion?. It will primarily be used outdoors, with the odd indoor appearance from time to time.

I find green stands out the best in the daytime. I've owned ACOGs with both Green and Amber illumination, as well as multiple scopes with Red illuminated reticules and a variety of Aimpoint and EOTech red dots/holo sights. They all do their job (which is primarily to stand out in low light conditions, or in the case of an Aimpoint/EOTech, to stand out in all conditions...), but the Green Chevron on that TA31F that I had would really glow in the daytime... No issues picking it up when using the BAC method.

As for what you want to be doing, I would suggest a quality 1-4x or 1-6x optic. My suggestion would be to take a look at the Vortex Razor line up if it's in your budget.

Was the Green so much more noticeable do you think because of the color, per se, or because of the FO nature of the ACOG?
And I was looking at a Hi Lux CMR scope in 1-4x as something different for a change

The human eye is attuned to green from millennia spent on the Savannah. So green is more readily picked up by the human eye. It is one of the reasons night vision mostly uses green tubes.

The human eye picks up greens better than any other color, so I'd choose green.

Oops someone beat me to it. lol
