i have a s&w model 686 and is missing the red insert for the front sight, what
are my options to replace this insert with? s&w says they liquid fill these at the factory, well you all know about sending thing to the states!!

Could probably done easily home made...

5 min Epoxy, red dye (cake colorant) and something to put each side of the sight, pour the epoxy in, let dry than file straight.

You can file a piece of coloured plastic close to what you need and force it in... a bit of filing and a bit of cold blue and it looks pretty good... I have several different colours I have done that with..

Or you can send it to a S&W warranty depot like MD Charleton here in BC... I am pretty sure he can melt one in...

Thank you. I've got a model 25 that has this problem, red plastic fell out. Any suggestions for turning the epoxy black?
