Curious about the size of a body die base diameter, does it form brass to the same size as a regular full-length die or smaller like a small-base die?
or somewhere in between?
Has someone measured to compare?
The Redding body dies I have size the case base ( .200 line) slightly larger than other full length dies I have, ie my Forster FL die sizes the case base of my 6br brass to ( ,200 line ) .4685 and my Redding BD sizes it to .4705.
A Redding body die is just a FL with no neck. There is no reason to believe that in this plus or minus world that they would be smaller or larger than their FL dies.
In the other hand; Redding does make SB body dies in 223 and 308 amoung others, and you can count in those ti come in at minimum spec in the plus or minus world.
The exact die dimension alone means about nothing - what is that dimension in your chamber? That is what you likely want to match to - the die will have plus and minus tolerances to be "in spec" - so will your chamber - some smaller / some bigger - but all most likely within SAAMI spec - if you use an accurate measuring tool - not a $15 Canadian Tire thing made in China, you might see the difference.
