Anyone out there using the Redding 3BR Powder measure?
Would like to know how accurate they are with H4831SC & H1000 powder in particular, but all feedback would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Pete remember that the markings are only for getting started 20 Grns ( if that is what you are shooting for) on the Redding scale is usually fairly close but do to different sizes of powders and shapes that is all it is close. Start there and work which ever way you have to go, they are a very good powder throw.

Thanks for the replys guys.
I realize that I will have to fine tune to each powder type/brand.My concern is once set up how consitant are the charges.Repeatabilty.

Repeatability is excellent. The smaller the powder the better it is. With WW760 is is dead on every time. With IMR 4895 it as also virtually dead on. With H4831 it is always within a few kernals of powder. If you are talking about hunting loads you will never notice the difference. I load IMR 4064 for my 500meter silhouette loads and throw directly into the cases just check every 10 rounds and have never seen a variation at the target, I can repeatedly break clay pigeons one after another, off the bench, once sighted in for the conditions of the day.
IMHO, You will not find a more consistent measure without paying twice the price. Consistency also has a lot to do with your technique. Make sure you do things the same with each throw, don't knock the drum back differently each time. I also throw all my charges at one time ie. don't throw one and then seat a bullet and thump the press up and down between rounds.

The extruded stick type powders are harder to meter accurately but you should be within 1 or 2/10 of a grain, thats what I can do with mine. the way you operate the handle and the solidity of the mount make a difference also, the finer grained stuff and the ball powders meter close to bang on every time, apowder baffle in the bottle is very helpfull in maintaining a consistent pressure on the metering chamber.
