Hey,

im looking for a scope with resetable turrets and a mildot (preferably 1/2 mildot) or moa reticle with around 3-10x magnification and 40-44mm (no 50s). I stumbled across this redfield tac for $350. The revolutions seem to have pretty good glass but there's not much talk about the tac versions features.

Anyone know anything about them or have experience? Is this scope worth the price or is there something better for around the same price or less that has my requirements?

Thanks for your help guys. I figure this scope is either an overlooked gem or simply gimmick

ya i saw that review. it seems pretty decent. just wondering if anyone else can verify or if the price is worth it. Is there something with better value??

I am just bumping this thread to see if anyone has any experience with this scope. I just bought one off the EE and it looks like it should be a good little scope with moa/moa features. I was going to get a bushnell fixed 10X tactical but could only find moa/mil reticle.

well write your own review then!

Here are some reviews cut and pasted from midways site on the product....

This is one of the best scopes I own! I could not be happier with the performance of this scope. 1/2 Sub MOA with a Bushmaster V-Match Predator .556/.223 using Horn. 62gr FMJ Black.

Best value in an MOA reticle out there. Leupold scope engineers produced the best AR coatings you can buy for light transmission and optical clarity at all power settings. Zero your rifle, I like a 200 yard zero, set your turret to line up with the Center line then dial up your MOA settings for long distance shooting. The JBM ballistics website will give you your MOA dial ups for your loads. Buy it you'll love it.

Currently use 4 different scopes- primary arms 1x6, 2 vortex diamond back hp's, and redfield revolution 3x9 x40 tac. Diamondback hp has great glass, clearer than the redfield. But the reticle on the redfield allows me to shoot MUCH more accurately. It is one of the best reticle I have ever used, and the turrets match the reticle, and make precise poi adjustments. On a bull barreled .223 (ar stoner from midway)many 3 shot groups @.3"-.4"@100m. On a 24" grendel, 3 shots into .5"@100m, 6 into .9"@200m. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to make precision shot out to 300-500 yards. And this scope is made in Oregon, U.S.A. Let us remember, the snipers sniper, the late great Carlos Hathcock,USMC, made most of his shots with a 3x9 x40 redfield.

I put this on my flat-top FN AR-15. At 9x the reticle just about matches the one-inch grid on a target at 100 yards. That is, the reticle has 1-minute-of-angle hash marks. It zeroed right in without a lot of jerking around back and forth like some scopes. If you hit eight inches high, then you turn the dial eight MOA down, and you hit right on. It was that simple. There was just a little interaction between horizontal and vertical, but not enough to complain about. Once you're zeroed, you loosen the set screws on the turrets and set them back to zero. After that there was no wandering around, shot after shot. Now I don't drop my rifle or run over it, but I figure it's going to hold zero pretty well with ordinary handling. The clicks aren't hard, but they're definite. I think this scope is a dang good item for the money and will do what I need without me spending a thousand bucks for something marginally better.

I was worried the crosshairs would be too thick for fine work, they are not. In fact they are perfect !! Great scope with 2moa,4moa hashes and then 20moa to the inside duplex, 40moa to the bolder duplex. Hard to explain but the instructions that come with it make it easy. Great scope. Very surprised they are not more popular ? Love the exposed turrets as well. Using on a Remington 700 in .300AAC For the money a real sleeper in the Redfield (aka Leupold) line. Lifetime warranty.

I've had this scope for a couple of years now and like it a lot. Also have a Leopold 3x9 Mark AR mod 1 and a Bushnell Elite 10x. For me, the Redfield compares quite well with the other two, each having advantages and disadvantages. It would be nice if the turrets on the Redfield and the Leupold had a vertical scale to help keep track of your adjustments when you dial up and down, left and right (I like the Bushnell turret set-up better). One of the things on my list of things to do is to rig up a zero stop with rubber O-rings to take care of this shortcoming.
I find that the Redfield reticle is nicer to use for holdovers due to the finer 2 moa hash-marks. It would be nice if Redfield numbered the hash-marks similar to the way Sightron does their moa reticle, but that would add to the price. For me, the Redfield has all the advantages of the Leopold at a significantly better price, especially if you want moa/moa adjustments and reticle. As far as glass quality, to my 54 year old eyes I think they are all in the same ballpark. To answer your question yes I think the Redfield Tac-Moa is an overlooked bargain for what you get and will work well for you.

Hope this helps, Brian
